Hey everyone! We have been working hard on all things Project Discover and have some wonderful updates for you.
The most exciting news is that we've officially launched our indiegogo fundraising site!
We decided to call our campaign Project Discover because we are setting out on a journey to discover. The indiegogo is where we delve into the details about our trip, our values, our needs, etc. Check out the page here:
Second, the kick off event for Project Discover last weekend was quite successful!
We had handmade pizzas with the help of our amigos and fresh toppings from the Isla Vista Food Co-op (who also let us borrow their popcorn machine, some tables for set up, and beautiful, reusable dish ware for the event). We offered lemonade and cucumber water and set out chairs for guests to watch our promotional video (which is on the indiegogo page if you haven't watched it already). To our surprise, we had about 45 people in attendance! It's helpful that the co-op/faux op communities that we live in travel in masses...
Third update- we are planning an entire weekend for Project Discover!
From July 26-28 we will be promoting our fundraising hardcore with events and lots of social media updates...
Friday
- we will have a donation based dance class,
Saturday
- will boast a donation based yoga class, a kombucha brewing workshop, and cookie sales
Sunday
- we will push Project Discover online, followed up by dessert sales at the IV Food Co-op movie night
Cassie and I are working on our social media techniques and have officially started a Project Discover indiegogo, website on weebly(the platform which helped us design it), Facebook page, twitter account, and Instagram. We're excited about all these different outlets of communicating with people online, but are finding the connections we make when sitting around the dinner table, at co-op parties, or through individual emails some of the most valuable.
For now, we are working hard! Always talking, always listening, always learning and adapting. Please talk to your communities about Project Discover and send them our way!
